Embroidery Patches for Apparel That Last Wash After Wash

Embroidery is the original patch, and it's still the one people picture first. Thread is stitched onto a sturdy twill or felt base, building up color and texture you can feel with your fingertips. A well-made patch keeps its shape and color for years on a work shirt, a backpack or a varsity jacket.

We use colorfast polyester embroidery thread for most orders because it holds bright color and handles frequent washing. If you want a softer, vintage look, cotton thread is an option. Every embroidery patch for apparel we make is backed and bordered for its job, from a small chest logo to a full jacket back piece.

Whether you want to create embroidered patches for a startup's merch, a security team's uniforms or a one-off gift, the process is the same: you send the idea, and we build it stitch by stitch.

How Much Embroidery Do You Need?

Coverage is the share of the patch surface covered by thread. It affects the look, the feel and the price.

Coverage What It Looks Like Best For Cost
50% Twill base shows as background Simple logos, text, name tags Lowest
75% Most of the surface stitched, some base visible Logos with a solid background color Mid
100% Fully stitched, no base visible Detailed artwork, full-color badges Highest

Not sure? Send your design and we'll suggest the coverage that gives the best result for your budget.

Custom Embroidered Patch FAQs

How do I create embroidered patches with my own design?

Send us your logo, artwork or a sketch, and tell us the size, shape and quantity. We digitize the design, send a free mockup, and start production once you approve it.

What file format do I need to send?

Vector files (AI, EPS, PDF, SVG) work best, but PNG and JPG are fine too. We redraw and digitize the artwork for embroidery, so you don't need a stitch file.

What's the difference between embroidered and woven patches?

Embroidered patches use thicker thread stitched onto a fabric base, so they have raised texture and a classic look. Woven patches use thinner thread woven together, which makes them flatter and better for very small text and fine detail.

What backing should I choose for clothing?

Sew-on is the most durable choice for garments that get washed often. Iron-on is quick and works well on cotton and denim. Velcro is best if you want to remove or swap patches.

Can you make embroidered name tags for clothes?

Yes. Name tags are usually rectangle or oval patches with merrow or heat-cut borders. We can produce a batch where each patch has a different name, which works well for uniforms and team wear.

Will embroidered patches survive washing?

Yes. Polyester thread is colorfast and holds up to regular laundering. Wash the garment inside-out in cold water and air dry or tumble dry low. Iron-on patches last longest if you also stitch the edges.
